An irresistible menu for your Sunday lunch: history, architecture and, of course, chocolate – French, Belgian, Australian and Spanish style!
Tour highlights (itinerary may be changed without notice – read more)
This scrumptious walking tour commences in the architectural and historical icon in Melbourne – the GPO. The former General Post Office has emerged as one of the latest hip shopping precincts and now as a chocolate hot spot. Cacao Fine Chocolates is in the heart of the city and we will taste its uniquely handmade creations using traditional French principles.
Our next visit is the also historical Royal Arcade, where our chocolate taste buds will be tempted by the creations of Koko Black. If fortune is on our side, a chocolatier will display some of the chocolate making techniques they employ and may even come out to answer some questions.
After absorbing the beauty and splendor of the GPO and Royal Arcade, our journey leads us to Haigh's Chocolates on Swanston Street. Here we combine tastings with an insight into the history of the family who has dedicated its last four generations from 1915 to the making of chocolate.
With taste buds in check, we head off to QV and Chocolateria San Churro, home of the Spanish doughnut. The next tasting on our journey has doughnuts with spiced chocolate dipping sauce! The aromas alone will make your mouth water...
To make things even better, we finish our walking tour with afternoon tea at Theobroma (the botanical name for the cacao plant) Chocolate Lounge in Melbourne Central. The chance to recharge the batteries with a delicious drink and afternoon tea is on offer!
