How long have you been a chocoholic?
My whole life! I was a huge white chocolate fan when I was younger but then when I started visiting my aunty (also Founder of Chocoholic Tours) and uncle they started giving me the good stuff so I learnt to appreciate what good chocolate really was and never went back!
Chocolate of choice that hides away in your cupboard for no one else to find?
Loose dark chocolate with passion fruit and just plain milk chocolate
Favourite city hideout?
I don’t really have just one, as I love to try different places all the time.
Anywhere that has a great dessert menu and I’m there!
Best part of being on a Chocoholic Tour?
Meeting new people! We get so many people from around the world on our tours and I love to hear their stories. I also love seeing chocoholics lights eyes up when I tell them something about Melbourne that haven’t heard before and they have worked or lived in the city for more than 20 years.
If you were a chocolatier what would your chocolate masterpiece be?
I am a huge fan of High Tea so it would be based around pretty things like teacups and saucers, teapots and dainty little teapoons and forks.
I would say the largest High Tea table including the finer details all made from chocolate… DREAMS COME TRUE!
what people are saying about JESS
I must admit I knew nothing about Chocolate tours until I stumbled upon Chocoholic Tours and went on their Bitter Sweet Tour. It was very informative, the tour guide Jess was lovely, very pleasant and the chocolates were amazing. I got a nice afternoon coffee treat at the end of it. Thoroughly recommend.
I took my mum on the Wonderland Tour for her birthday. Thank you Chocoholic Tours and in particular our guide Jess, for a wonderful afternoon of chocolate tasting and teachings about the making of chocolate, the history of the shops we visited and the history of the arcades. As a Melbournite I have walked through arcades and past chocolate shops many, many times but now I will walk past them with new appreciation and knowledge!
My friends and I did the Chocolate Wonderland Tour last week with Jess as our guide. She was lovely. She told us all about chocolate and how it’s made and we headed off for tastings through all the beautiful arcades and laneways where Jess also explained a lot of the history. Cacao Lab was amazing with its éclairs and by the time our tour was finished and we were seated at Brunetti’s for our final tasting, our bellies were full. Thanks Jess for a wonderful afternoon!
We had a great afternoon of tasting and learning! The chocolates were amazing we couldn’t have had a more enthusiastic and lovely tour guide than Jess. She was full of knowledge, very helpful and so happy! Thanks for a wonderful time!
Great tour and Jess, our guide, was excellent. She was knowledgeable, friendly and very personable. Not onerous walking for those less active participants and all stops were extremely interesting and provided wonderful tasty treats. We received this tour as a gift and it was a fantastic one!
