FAQ

Questions and answers

At Chocoholic Tours we do our best to accommodate everyone’s requirements. If you have a question about our tours have a look at the list below. Hopefully we have the answer you’re looking for; if not please get in touch vis the live chat or the form on the Contact Us page

What is the difference between the City chocolate walking tours and the Lanes & Arcades chocolate walking tours?

The City walking tours are our introductory, family friendly tours. They visit the mainstream chocolate providers in Melbourne, whilst seeing some of the city’s icons and lanes & arcades. These tours are designed to be our family friendly tours, suitable for groups with children.

The Lanes & Arcades walking tours are our premium tours. They visit some of the smaller artisan boutiques in Melbourne, and allow you to indulge in exclusive tastings curated just for Chocoholic tours. These tours feature more tastings than the City chocolate walking tours and are one hour longer.

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes we do. We have been able to cater for almost all the requests we’ve had in the past; especially: nut allergies, vegetarian, gluten free, alcohol free and vegan. We’ve also catered for dairy free and chocolate free!

Advanced notice means we can let our partners know in advance, which in turn enables us to provide the best possible experience for you. You can let us know when making your booking by entering the details in the “Dietary requirements” box on the website booking form.

Are the tours accessible, e.g. wheelchair/pram friendly, disability friendly?

We welcome foodies and sweet tooths of all ages and we’re really happy to work with you on any access needs you may have.

There are a few considerations you need to be aware of:
The tour requires a basic level of fitness. The pace of the walking tour is relaxed. Over three hours we walk about 2 kilometers (1.2 miles). There are two or three opportunities to sit down during the tour, but guests need to be able to stand for periods of time.

Some of the pathways we follow are narrow and/or cobbled and there are stairs and inclines to navigate – therefore, if you need wheelchair access, we recommend contacting us in advance.

We welcome Companion Cards and your companion can fully participate in the tour.

Please contact us for if you have any queries about suitability, either through our Contact Us form, our chat function, or give us a call.

Where is the meeting point?

You can find the meeting point details on the booking confirmation email we sent you.
The Lanes & Arcades Walking Tours meet at the Elizabeth St entrance of The Block Arcade, 100 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne CBD.
The City Walking Tours meet at St Paul’s Cathedral on the corner of Flinders Street & Swanston Street

How do I find the tour guide?

They will meet you at the meeting point about 5 minutes before the tour starts. They will be holding a chocolate coloured paddle with our logo on it.

Where do the tours finish?

The specific location can vary from tour to tour but they always finish in the CBD. If you need to know a specific location for your tour please get in touch with us and we can let you know.

How much walking is involved?

The tours cover approx. 2km (1.2 miles). All tours require standing for the majority of the time. If you have any concerns about this, please contact us to discuss.

Can I join the tour at the last minute?

Of course! Online tour bookings remain open until 1 hour before the tour starts. If it’s less than an hour before the start time give us a call on 1300 915 566 and we’ll book you in.

Do I need to pay prior to the tour?

Yes please. We do not accept cash on the day.
Payment can be made online or over the phone with a credit or debit card. We also accept PayPal online.

What happens if I’m running late?

Don’t worry! The guide has your contact number so will give you a call to find out how far away you are. We have a tight schedule to fit in all of the chocolate so if the guide needs to leave the meeting point before you get there they will let you know where to meet the group.

If you’ve not heard from the guide, give us a call on 1300 915 566 and we’ll co-ordinate things for you.

Do you have a minimum number for the tour to run?

Yes we do.
The Lanes & Arcades walking tours require a minimum of 2 people for the tour to proceed.
The City Walking Tours require a minimum of 4 people for the tour to proceed.

If the tour you are booked on does not meet these minimum requirements we will contact you two days before your date to reschedule.

Do I need to bring anything with me on the day?

Maybe an umbrella in case it rains, a hat and sunscreen if it’s hot

Please bring a bottle of water if you are booked on the City Walking tour.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please refer to our Cancellation policy here: www.chocoholictours.com.au/cancellations/

Do you have a weather policy?

Our tours run in all weathers, hot, cold, wet and windy! So please keep your eye on the weather report in the days leading up to your tour and bring the appropriate clothing and protection with you.
Our tours are predominantly indoors or under shaded areas however, if you would like to reschedule due to heat or rain, we will need a minimum of 3 days notice. Less than 3 days before your tour we are not able to refund or reschedule. You are welcome to send someone else in your place.

Which tours are suitable for children?

We recommend our City Walking Tours. The tours are shorter and the tasting experiences are better suited to young people.

We actually looked at the bookings over the last couple of years and very few children were booked on our Lanes & Arcades tours so we have removed the option and made the tours adult only.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

We certainly do! You can buy these online and they are perfect for a last minute gift as the gift voucher is emailed to you immediately! You can buy vouchers for a specific amount and the participant can choose which tour to book.

Can I extend the validity on my voucher?

The expiry date is clearly printed on our vouchers, however, if you have an expired voucher and the expiry is less than 90 days ago we are able to extend for $25 per voucher. We are not able to extend vouchers that are more than 90 days past expiry.

Can I use my gift card for a different tour other than the one on the voucher?

Yes, certainly! If you have a voucher for one tour and would like to change it for another tour you can use the value of the gift card against the tour and we will take payment for the balance. You will need to call us on 1300 915 566 to arrange this.

What do I do if I have a voucher from a third party e.g. Red Balloon, Adrenaline, Everything but Flowers, RACV?

We can’t accept these vouchers through our website. You will need to contact the company they were bought from to redeem them for our tours.

Can I bring a school group?

Yes, certainly! We have specific routes for schools tours and can cater to different budgets. Check out our School Tours page for details.
